You apply to a farm. You arrive, and you are paid by a company you have never heard of, who placed you there.

That arrangement is common and it is not automatically a problem, but it changes who you talk to when something goes wrong, and in several Australian states it means somebody needs a licence you can look up yourself.

Has that happened to you? How did you find out, and did it change anything about the pay, the hours or the accommodation? If you asked questions first, what did you ask?
