Ask the PindLanguage & heritagePosted by IkkoPind
What do your children answer you in?
You speak to them in Punjabi. What comes back?
For a lot of houses the honest answer is English, or Punjabi with the grandparents and English with everybody else, or understanding everything and speaking almost none of it.
There is no wrong answer here and this is not a place to make anybody feel they have failed at something. We are asking because what actually works is different in every house, and the people who have got somewhere with it usually did something specific rather than something general.
If Gurmukhi is part of it for you, say whether that went with the speaking or separately.
